Stuff to do

The Basics

San Francisco is great! Oakland is better!

To Eat

We love eating and you should too. Please have some food so you aren't hangry when we see you. Here are some of our faves:

Oakland (where we live and love):
  • Shimizu Sushi — We eat here way too often. Great sushi for those on a budget!
  • Ensarro — Awesome Ethiopian by our house
  • Jong Ga — Great Korean BBQ
  • Shan Dong — Hand pulled noodles, best Chinese food in Oakland
  • Belotti — Best fresh pasta we've ever had. We love starch
San Francisco (where we work and it's pretty):
  • Elephant Sushi — Tiny sushi place with excellent fresh fish
  • Proposition Chicken — Cheap sandwiches, best lunch spot by Kristian's office, lol
  • Shido Sushi — Good bento boxes and lunch specials
  • Tartine — Literally the best bread in the world
  • Delfina — Legit Italian place with great pasta
  • Bi-Rite — Ice cream in the most California of flavors
  • Dragon Eats — Solid, budget Vietnamese banh mi & bowls

To Do

SF:
  • Sutro Baths — Incredible lookout point to the Pacific with ruins
  • Dolores Park — Where we pound bread from Tartine
  • Ocean Beach — Beach along entirety of SF's Pacific coast
  • The Presidio/Golden Gate Bridge — Self explanatory, but worth a visit!
Oakland:
  • Lake Merritt — Lake/park by our house, we've run around it too many times
  • Mountain View Cemetery — Designed by Frederick Law Olmstead, great bay views
  • Bay Bridge Trail — Another running route, get up on the Bay Bridge!
Day trips! This is our favorite part of living in the Bay. All within 2 hours of SF/Oakland:
  • Highway 1 — Drive down from SF along the coast for epic views. See elephant seals!
  • Muir Woods — Gigantic redwoods!
  • Point Reyes — Great beaches and tide pools
  • Point Bonita Lighthouse — You cross a bridge over the Pacific to get here!
  • Sausalito — Adorable sailing town just north of the Golden Gate Bridge
  • Half Moon Bay — Where we got engaged! Also has amazing tide pools
  • Marin Headlands — Where we ran an incredibly difficult half marathon #mistakes
  • Wine Country — Napa, Sonoma. We've visited Hamel Family Wines but there are a zillion others.
  • Monterey Bay Aquarium — Where Finding Dory was based!
  • Santa Cruz Boardwalk — Historic roller coasters on the beach
